Flaxseeds are small, brown or golden-colored seeds that are the richest plant source of a plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).

The health-promoting components in flaxseed are associated with improved cardiovascular health. In 2014, Health Canada approved a health claim that linked eating ground whole flaxseed to healthy blood cholesterol, a major factor for heart health. The daily amount shown to support healthy cholesterol is 40 g (5 tablespoons) of ground whole flaxseed to be consumed over three eating occasions in the day.

The average North American consumes 10-20 g of fiber per day, which is about half the recommended amount. Use 1 level tablespoon of Hi-Lignan NutriFlax in a large glass of water or juice. Stir well and drink immediately. Follow with an additional glass of water. Do not swallow in dry form. Use once or twice per day until effective--this may take up to 2 to 3 days. Nutri-Flax is safe to use daily and can be added to blender drinks,"green drinks" and baked goods. Excellent as an egg replacer in baking recipes (1 tbsp. Nutri-Flax and 3 tablespoons water equals 1 egg; mix and let stand for seconds). REFRIGERATE after opening.
